IR laws and education

Students and teachers are not happy. Many students are planning to walk out of class next week in protest. I can't say I blame them after hearing that posh Newington College in Stanmore today sacked 40 teachers. They have been invited to reapply for their jobs, which naturally are offered with poorer conditions than before. Blimey, the people responsible for that decision really know how to boost morale in a school. Hey you loosers, how about thinking not only of your staff but also of what this will do to the students, in particular those in year 12 who will be sitting the HSC later in the year. What a pack of schmucks! Thanks John and party for bringing in such caring legislation ... enough said!

AWB - a confession at last

Ok, so AWB managing director Andrew Lindberg has finally admitted that kickbacks were paid to Saddam Hussein's regime. The thing that gets me angry is that the draft apology was crafted late last year. Gee guys, when did you think would be a good time to release it? Surely the next step would be to broaden the terms of the enquiry and attempt (yeah, right) to find out what the government really knew. Power to you Commissioner Cole!

Johnnie in Washingon

The PM is in Washington shmoozing with George Dubbya.
The snippet on the ABC news showing them both praising each other was enough to make me want to ralph. As one caller to 2BL this morning said "Why don't they just get a room?" - Love it.
